Ave Maria

Eyes on eyes
The golden echo upon your brow
carried over by the shallow wake.

Now sing,
Sing upon your angels on high,
Ages of the sweetened chorus
Bound to the earth by the heavenly right
to bring blood to the soil and let the ground grow.

And sing,
Sing your Ave Maria
At the hour of our death,
And blessed be the waters that fall
Under silk and satin
and onto the earth.

So sing
Sing the words of your body onto my breast
And pray for us
Pray for us sinners
as you breathe life onto fields once fallow
and motion to the sky the beginnings of eternal bloom.

Alexandria Holly is a student at Walter Payton College Prep, and a self proclaimed expert on underwater juggling. She likes birds, singing far too loudly in public, and trying to find the perfect chocolate chip recipe. Alex doesn't know too much about writing, but thinks it's pretty cool and would like to write on the moon one day, even though she knows that's not very practical. For now, her imagination will do.
