the cracks of sidewalk slabs / mimic wrecks in my phone screen / i like to think / my level of destruction is cosmic / not the internal twisting of insides / if everything must be incomprehensible / let concrete sink into this landscape / a condensed Northwest sky / stretched onto a Midwest skyline / i want to see / myself as a forest of evergreens / draped in fog unpassable / a parallel lost/ now that everyone is tossed up in air
Cassie Birk is a recent grad of The University of Iowa and is currently based in the Pacific Northwest.
